General Info

Tucked along 44 Green Springs Hwy, Homewood, AL 35209, United States, Tortas Locas Homewood is one of those Mexican restaurants that feels easy to settle into the moment you walk through the door. The atmosphere leans casual and cozy, making it a comfortable spot for a relaxed dinner with friends or a laid-back weeknight meal. With convenient parking available and debit cards accepted, getting in and out is simple, which always makes the overall dining experience smoother.

The first thing that stands out when browsing the menu is the variety of traditional Mexican comfort dishes. One plate that quickly caught my attention was the Chicken Fajita Quesadilla. It arrives hot and satisfying, with tender chicken and sautéed vegetables folded into a crispy tortilla. The balance of texture-crispy outside, melty inside-makes it one of those dishes you keep reaching for without realizing it.

Equally memorable is the Mole Rojo Con Pollo, a dish that feels deeply rooted in Mexican culinary tradition. The rich red mole sauce coats the chicken beautifully, delivering a layered flavor that’s both savory and slightly complex. It’s the kind of dish that makes you slow down and appreciate each bite. Restaurants that serve dishes like this usually take pride in keeping their flavors authentic, and that care really shows here.

If you’re looking for something a bit more indulgent, the Chuleta Loca is worth trying. It’s hearty and flavorful, perfect for dinner when you’re ready for something filling. Plates here tend to be generous, which is always a plus when exploring a new restaurant menu.

Drinks are another pleasant surprise. The Agua De Guanábana O Maracuyá adds a refreshing tropical note to the meal. Whether you choose the creamy sweetness of guanábana or the tangy brightness of passion fruit, it pairs nicely with the bold flavors coming from the kitchen.

What makes Tortas Locas Homewood enjoyable isn’t just the food-it’s the overall vibe. The dining room feels relaxed and welcoming, making it a comfortable place to linger over dinner. Reviews from visitors often mention the cozy setting and straightforward service, and it’s easy to see why people return.

For anyone exploring Mexican food in Homewood, this location offers a straightforward but satisfying experience. From flavorful classics to refreshing drinks, the menu brings together dishes that feel both comforting and authentic, all served in a casual environment that makes dining out feel effortless.

What customers say?

“ I love Mexican food but this was the best I've had in many years. Authentic, speedy and excellent excellent excellent food. My wife had the shrimp fajitas and I had the chicken fajitas. So good. ”

“ Very good food but it being slightly over priced and not 100% accurate knocks it down to 4 stars. $15 for one sandwich after tax. ”

- Robert Frazier -

“ Great local Mexican place! The name seems like just a sandwich shop, but they have a very extensive menu and a fair amount of dine-in seating inside. Staff speaks mostly Spanish, but very friendly and helpful. Called in our order and it was ready in ten minutes. Ordered a torta loca and a Hawaiian torta. Both were good quality, and massive! Each could easily feed two people, or be two meals for one. The loca in particular was, fittingly, absolutely stuffed with meat and toppings. Come hungry! ”

- Bryan Caswell -

“ We have been there a half dozen times at this point and the food is always good. I have had the enchiladas verde and mole, tortas milanesa, sopes, chilaquiles, and chile rellenos - all tasty. Good selection of beers and agua frescas as well. ”

- Drew Mc -

“ It's surprisingly large. I think they've expanded beyond the original space. Authentic food, well and quickly prepared. Lots of specials on the weekend. You'll PROBABLY be the only legit Murican there but everyone SO FAR has been kind and helpful. Most of the menu is Español but Google to the rescue. If it comes down to it, Google can help with language. I've been for lunch and takeout before. Recently took a group of Tiny Kindom folks and we had a ball. Covered the table in food. More hits than misses. Ribs were a miss, and a request for Horchata got Agua Frescas....good, but the difference between the two is large. Order unfamiliar items, not fajitas amd other Gringo bait. Tortillas are obviously made on premises and we're the best ive had on this side of the Mississippi. Go, have fun! ”

- Lee Moore -

“ Crazy (good) tortas, plain and simple. Really good, can't complain. Was pretty big that I saved half of it for dinner. Raised their prices up from the pandemic but overall, still very good for the price. ”

- Alvin Jacob Soriano -

“ This is great!! The chicken is delicious and the beans/rice are so light and fresh/tasty!! Solid 10!! Also the green sauce is AMAZING!!! ”

- Jones street -

“ Fresh and delicious food at bright and cheery dining room. Open Sundays. I have had the enchiladas, chilaquiles, and tortas, and enjoyed all. ”
